Having a strong grasp of different treatment methods, theories, and practice she can collaborate with individuals at any level and move towards positive outcomes.
Alyssa earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Masters of Social Work from Salisbury University. As a clinical social worker her primary focus has been in the dynamics of child abuse and neglect. Her career focuses on helping those who cannot help themselves and advocating for their best interests.
At the start of Alyssa’s career she worked for three years in child protection, with a focus on interfamilial sex crimes. This involved investigating and assessing reports of sexual abuse in children. Her main focus was to preserve families, while keeping their children safe.
Alyssa spent the last three years predominantly working in therapeutic foster care, where she provided help for children who have been physically abused, sexually abused, and/or neglected and have been admitted into therapeutic foster care.
In addition, Alyssa provides Comprehensive Behavioral Health Assessments (CBHA). She evaluates children who have entered state care for behavioral and mental health needs. Based on an overall comprehensive assessment and use of her professional judgment she considers all information gathered to make a proper recommendation for the child.
